I have a very hard time getting rid of broken stuff! I bought a marble salt and pepper set at a garage sale and the pepper grinder never worked right. I absolutely could not throw it away! Blazer Pillow

There isn't much I can think of that can't be used for something else. I was given a blazer that was just to big for me. Rather then modify to fit, I decided I'd make a pillow. I love it! Repurposed Leather Swing Coat

I acquired an old swing coat from a customer his summer and finally got around to washing it and making a purse. Zips on the top and side and is fully lined. I love these one of a kind bags and wouldn't consider carrying anything but! Don't forget, we can make a custom bag or purse for you using your own clothes!

Project Party

I'm a Little Bit Country

At a girl friends house I saw the cutest picture of a half dozen or so sheep done in crewel circa 1970.  Reminded me of when country was really in back in the early 80's. I thought I would try my own version. And here it is! If I continue to do more I think I'll use a different material for the faces. Not bad for my first try. Happy, happy week and GO PACK!

Tie Fem

I had a request to fem up a couple of men's ties, pictured is the one I like best. Button made from the seam of a pair of her jeans at the very bottom and two coordinating plastic buttons above. Marathon Runner

Hi Everybody!

I've been commisioned to make five table runners for two very nice customers. I call them marathon runners because they are eight feet in length and take a long time to make. Three are now done. Hope to finish the last two by the end of summer.

Welcome PGA

Hi Everybody,

Today my blog is about the upcoming PGA tournament at Whistling Straights. It is so cool to have it here again. I had the pleasure of working in the media tent when it was here back in 2004 and it was an experience of a lifetime!

We have several golf related items in the store to help celebrate this years event. Ball coziy's, tee bags club covers and plants. Custom

Hi Everybody,

We have quite a bit of custom work in the store at the moment and we love it! Pillows, frames, table runners and skirts are some of the projects currently in progress. Pictured is a patchwork jean skirt. She liked it so well we are making another using jeans and an old leather coat. Can't wait to get started and as usual, I will post the end result. Ragg Mopp

Hi everybody,

Just coming off my vacation, so I'm a little rusty, but so ready to sew! I created this lamp shade a couple weeks ago and I'm happy to say it has already sold, that means I'll be making another and hopefully will be ready in the next week or two. I've got a few other ideas for using scraps of fabric so stay tuned and don't forget to look for our videos on YouTube and Facebook.

Hi Everybody,

Today's post is about a new product from two of my most favorite people. Meghann and Bella Wick (yes, we are related!, she is my very pregnant daughter-in-law and granddaugher, not prego!). They make these natural, fun, whimsical wind chimes. They have only been in the store a week and two have sold. Some have themes but all have bells. Pictured is one they made especially for me. Spools of thread, thimble and tiny scissors, so cute! Get yours fast, because after my grandson is born I doubt they'll have much time to make many more! Only $12-29.Happy, happy week!!!

Antique Zipper Table

Good morning all,

A good customer asked me to make something funky from an antique table she provided. She felt something really different could get people to dig a little deeper in there pockets, ultimately providing more funds to Children's Hospital. She is involved in acquiring donations for the Mesfeld's Lakeshore Weekend and is pumped about the table! The top is covered entirely in zipper teeth and wrapped With a leather belt. What a blessing it is to give, especially to our children. Thank you Lori! Happy, happy week!

Mommy Apron's

Hi Everybody,

As promised, today's post features what I call Mommy Apron's. This Terry cloth apron keeps you dry while bathing your child and because it is made from a full size towel, allows you to use the bottom portion to scoop up and dry you little bundle of joy! I sent one to my daughter who just five days ago had their first child and she said it would also be great for giving their dogs a bath. Excellent idea! Don't forget to look for me and the Crabby Cobbler in the 4th of July parade!

Summer Poncho

Hi Everybody,

My sister-in-law, friend and employee loves ponchos (so do I!). She purchased some fabric and had me make her a few. Pictured is one done a couple weeks ago. Working on the last two today and hopefully a couple more Mommy aprons ( which I hope post next week). We will again be in the 4th of July parade where you can see the Zipper Queen tame the Crabby Cobbler. Happy, happy week!

Renovation

After over three years in business, I'm finally biting the bullet and renovating our work room. My employees are so awesome they deserve a pleasant area in which to work. Jeans Placemats

Hi Everybody,

A customer and friend gave me several projects to make from her husbands clothes. One of which was placemats made from his jeans. Not having lost a spouse, I cannot know what that feels like, but I do know from other deaths that just simply getting rid of their stuff is difficult. Creating usable items from some of their possessions is not only a reminder of the love you had, but comforting having something of theirs near. It has helped her with the healing process and she feels after several years of grieving has rounded the corner. We have done this many times for people and when presented, all are teary eyed, emotional and grateful. Next week, using old wooden spools. Happy, happy week'

New Cush Covers

To the Beat of My Own Drum

Hi Everybody,

The bird houses from last week are both gone! I'm finishing a zipper bird house today and was able to complete the drum footstool, the focus of today's post. My grandson came into the house Sunday and asked "what's that?" I told him it is a drum footstool. He responded, "I don't like it." He spent most of the rest of the day sitting on it! Redo

Hi Everybody,

In the early eighties when my family was young (so was I), we didn't have a lot of money for extras so most of the things I had, I made (perhaps one of the first Do-it-Yourselfers?). I continue to be a DIYer and most of my creations come from rescued materials. Big plans for today! Redo two bird houses from the east side of the store (pictured), drum footstool, zipper planter and stick birdhouse. How busy I am will determine how much I achieve. Prayer Beads

Hi Everybody,

A friend and former colleague asked me to convert her prayer wheel printed on an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper both sides, into a piece of jewelry she could wear. She often uses the wheel while walking so the paper thing did not work out all that well. Being a Catholic, I immediately thought of something similar to a rosary. And there you have it. It can be worn as a necklace or wrap bracelet. They may soon be available in the store so I will be sure to keep you posted as always. Happy, happy week!

Modified Men's Jacket

Hi Everybody,

Today's post features a jacket I girlied up for a customer and friend. I took in and shortened the sleeves, then added the ties and buttons. She was quite pleased as was I. Working on a few more custom projects in the next couple weeks and will post when ready. Happy, Happy Easter!!!

Crocheted Pillow

It seems like I start with an idea or medium/fabric, etc. and just keep going with it! I still have a bunch of this tape left, so I am not done yet! Spring has Sprung

Tie One On

Way back in 2008 Greenpurse was started and had a line of about 6-8 purses, one of which was called the Tie One On bag. Made from...you guessed it, ties. These are especially nice when made from a loved ones unused/old ties. Pictured is one I made for a customer to the size and design she desired.

Catnip

Zipper Wrap

I'm always looking for ways to use all the zippers we take out and will be preparing a bunch today for yet another zipper project next week. My ten wrap can be worn as a bracelet, necklace or belt. Repurposed Jeans

Hi Everybody,

After work last night I was looking forward to going home and giving myself an manicure. Although Saturday is my goof off day, I like to have a game plan. I started thinking about the two Project Parties scheduled for today at 2:00 and 3:00. The last time Arnst Zipper hosted I got paint on one of my favorite shirts! I decided I needed an apron. Not just any apron, but a repurposed one. It took me only a few minutes to know what I would do and got to work. Pictured is the outcome. I really like it (although I don't like it in the photo) because it has four pockets and will be super durable. More to come! Happy, happy week!

Match Game 2015

Hi Everybody!

The mittens continue sell at a steady pace so Mary and I are always struggling to keep up. Part of the problem for me is I always get another idea while working on a particular project. I finish a pair and then move on to my idea. In this case, it was making a pair of boot cuffs from the sleeves of the sweater. In the past I have only crocheted them. This saved a lot of time so I can sell them for less than the crocheted style and they have a completely differnt look. I love them all! We currently have about six pairs in stock ranging in size, length and price. Check them out at 923 Michigan Ave. in Sheboygan.

As many of you may know (or not), we offer Project Parties for children and adults and Saturday February 7th we are entertaining two groups of Daisy scouts. Should be awesome. Watch for lots more! Happy, happy week!

After three years we understand the styles, kinds and sizes of zippers we need and most frequently use. We have an abundance of short zippers I antisipate never using for repairs and they are just waiting to be useful in/on something and I can't resist doing it! Certainly not my first zipper purse and most asuradly not my last. $30. Next week watch for either a crocheted belt or boot cuffs!

Vintage Cookbook

Years ago my mom gave me her cookbook. Even as a kid, I always like how old and used it was. I scanned the cover and gave them to my kids for Christmas a while back and just thought of it again today on my walk. I dug up the old scan and made a frame this morning. Only $23.99!
